Title	S.S. Baltic.
Description	Steamship Baltic, on the sea, seen from the side. Smoke trails from its two smokestacks. Text printed on verso reads, "This steamship is the principal vessel of the White Star fleet, being one of the largest boats in the world, is 710 feet long, 75-1/2 feet beam, speed 17-1/2 knots. It was launched in 1903 and is engaged in the Transatlantic service between Liverpool and New York. The Baltic on January 23, 1909, received a wireless message from the Republic calling for help as it had collided with another steamer during a fog and was gradually sinking with about 800 passengers on board. The Baltic went to the rescue, and within a very few hours had all the passengers transferred from the Republic without the loss of a single life. Within a short time after the last passenger was transferred the Republic sank beneath the waves." This is a second ship named the Baltic on this line. Number 61 in a series. Postage requirements date this card to before 1952.
