Title	State Capitol, Nashville, Tenn.
Description	State Capitol of Tennessee in Nashville. The white columned building, which has a tall tower, is surrounded by trees a lawn. Text printed on verso reads, "Tennessee State Capitol Building was erected in 1845-1853, at a cost of $2,500,000. The architectural idea is that of a Greek Ionic Temple. The architect, William Strickland of Philadelphia, died before the building was completed and was entombed in a recess in the north wall. The building stands on an eminence 175 feet above the Cumberland River and the building has an elevation of 75 feet 8 inches above the ground. On the terrace grounds are several handsome pieces of statuary. These include an equestrian statue of President Jackson, a tomb of President Polk, and the Sam Davis monument." Number 63 in a series. Postage requirements date this card to before 1952. Published by Zibart Bros. (no. 11292).
