Description
"In the
center
Achilles
,
still
in a
girl's
clothes
,
is
shown
advancing
to his
left
about
to
rush
in the
direction
from
which
the
sound
of the
trumpet
comes
. He
is
represented
as a
beautiful
youth
with
red
hair
, his
face
bearing
a
feminine
look
. He
is
dressed
in a
long
tunic
with a
large
overfold
reaching
the
hips
. The
hems
against
the
torso
, at the
edge
of the
fold
and
where
it
reaches
the
ground
carry
a
gold-colored
band
. The
garment
leaves
the
right
part
of the
torso
and his
right
leg
and
foot
naked
, the
heel
of this
foot
being
his
only
vulnerable
spot
.
[…]
Achilles'
right
hand
has
grasped
the
handle
of a
long
spear
. His
thumb
seems
to have
gone
through
the
leather
throwing
loop
of the
weapon
. The
spear's
metallic
leaf-shaped
point
is
barbed
. His
other
arm
goes
through
the
arm
band
of a
heavy
concave
shield
and his
hand
grasps
it
by its
grip
. The
shield's
interior
shows
a
row
of
dentils
around
the
rim
. His
sword
has a
lion-shaped
pommel
and
hangs
from the
leather
strap
which
is
worn
obliquely
across
the
chest
.
[…]
To the
right
Odysseus
is
represented
. He
wears
a
white
tunic
decorated
with
vertical
stripes
on
each
side
. His
mantle
rests
on the
left
shoulder
and
falls
to the
ground
at his
back
. His
headdress
is
typical
for him
when
represented
in the
composition
of the
discovery
of
Achilles
. His
sword
with a
circular
pommel
hangs
from the
strap
worn
against
his
