Description	"The view from the balcony of the Dalis' second home in Figueres, at Carrer Monturiol 24. This was the painting Dali showed Picasso on his first visit to Paris in April 1926." (Caption); "The building, today numbered Monturiol, 10, is a listed monument and has undergone no significant changes since 1912. It faces almost due east and has a wide central staircase-cum-light-well which leads up to a rooftop terrace similar to that at Monturiol, 20, but with a far more extensive view. Dali's painting Girl from Figueres, done towards 1925, recreates accurately part of the townscape as it then appeared from here, with the mauve hills of the coastal range of Sant Pere de Roda, on the edge of the Empordà plain, rising on the horizon and, in the foreground, the College of the French Dominican Sisters, with its characteristic belfry. Though not shown in the painting, a glimpse could also be caught from the terrace of the lovely Bay of Roses, sixteen kilometers away." (Excerpt, p.[77]); "As for the bell-girl [referring to Dali's painting, Outskirts of the Paranoiac-Critical Town], she was inspired by the campanile of Anna Maria Dali's convent school in Figueres, which, as is shown by Girl from Figueres (1926), was visible from the family terrace. It had a classical pediment and round arch, although no ball finial, and was destroyed during the civil war." (Excerpt, p.405)
