Description	"Vassily Kandinsky was a prominent member of the Bauhaus faculty from 1922, and he remained until 1933, when it was closed by the Nazis. His paintings of that period reflect the geometric angularity he espoused as part of the Russian avant-garde in Moscow at the beginning of World War I. Such forms, which were also characteristic of the Bauhaus aesthetic, can be seen, for example, in Composition 8. Compared to the exuberant curvilinear forms of his Expressionist Painting Number 201, this is measured, constructed, and dominated by dynamic diagonal planes."
