Description |
"[…] it should be noted that the vases found at Sesklo and Dimini are characterized by an astonishing variety of shapes, which means that they served a large number of uses. For the purposes of study, all these shapes have their own names, still used by pottery experts: lekanis, phiale, kypello, skyphos… The second observation […] is that the Sesklo-Dimini vases are either monochrome or decorated. […] As for the decorated vases, their motifs are executed in light-colored paint applied to a dark surface, or vice versa (painted vases), or are incised (incised wares)." (Excerpt by George Ch. Chourmouziadis, pp. 193-194) |
