(continued on page 2) Events canceled to conserve fuel Because of a possible fuel shortage , the UofL administration has decided to cancel a majority of weekend events in the months of February. The university is trying to curtail its use of natural gas and heating oil in an effort to prevent a cutoff. The temperature in most buildings will be lowered drastically from noori Saturday until Monday morning each weekend during the month. Dormitories and student food services along with other essential services will not be affected. Saturday morning classes and activities will also be held as usual. Other activities on Saturday will be canceled or rescheduled if possible. The Ufe Sciences building will be supplied with heat during the weekends. Some events which were to be held elsewhere will be moved into that building. ' Here is a list of some events scheduled for this weekend (Feb. S-6): • Entrance exams for the SChool of Music will be held as scheduled at 9 a.m., Saturday, at Sh~lby Campus. Photograph by Frar* PNrce A break in the bitter cold fin~y c~me on Wednesday. ' • The University Orchestra performance will be held as scheduled at 8 p.m. Sunday in Shelby Campus' Recital Hall. • The Law School Seminar will be held as planned Saturday at 8 a.m. in room 1 01 of Strickler Hall. • The Greater Louisville Council of. Teachers of Math will be held as planned Saturday at 9 a.m. in Davidson Hall. • The~ m~~!~_g o( t]le_ Kentucky.. . Federation Of Students of German conference will be held as planned at 8 ;l .• m. Saturday in the Student Center. ·• Th~.India association movies will be· shown in the Life Sciences Auditorium at 6 p.m. instead of Strickler Hall as formerly scheduled. • The Gospel music program scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday in the Humanities Building has been moved to the Ufe Sciences Auditorium. • Graduation ceremonies for the School of Dentistry dental hygiene graduates will be held as scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Health Sciences' Auditorium. The tours that had been scheduled have been canceled. • All events scheduled at the Ecumenical Center and the Baptist Campus Center will be held as usual throughout the month. • The Friday night and Saturday afternoon shows at the Rauch Memorial Planetarium· are canceled but the regular 3 and 5 p.m. shows on Sunday will be shown. • The Red Bam will · be closed Monday through Thursdays during the month, but will stay open for activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the month. • The Homecoming Basketball Fest (continued on page 2)
