This is the largest single gift in the history of the University. University officials have not yet decided upon a use for the property, which may be added to the physical faciJi .. ties of the University, sold, or leased, the proceeds to be used for educational purposes. The Reynolds family and its metals firm have previously given to the University an observatory and an aluminum trailor for a research project. THE UNIVERSITY CHORUS performed bef~re a group of some two hundred people in the Rotunda of the Administration Building last Sunday. The Chorus did selections from oldr Christmas Carols and new Carols. The Rotunda was decorated to add to the spirit of the occasion. Dr. Walter Dahlen directed the Chorus which had all the selections perfomled Sunday recorded and they will be released later this year. CWENS HOPE to start a new tradition of having the University's official Christmas tree decorated by the student body. Although this was the first time, the idea proved to be quite successful. Many of the campus organizations had members present as were many of the faculty and administration. Everyone joined in the singing of carols which was lead by the University Chorus. This year has been a wonderful year for the University of Louisville. Most recently ,the Reynolds Metals Company donated their old office building located at Third and Eastern Parkway to the University. The new University Center will be completed and given to the students as a New Year's gi~t. Construction of the new Men's Dorm has started. The University will soon have a Planetarium, the only one of its kind in the State. The new Medical Center is no longer a dream but a growing realization. Books have been added to the Library; the faculty has grown in quality and quantity; more fellowships and grants have been recieved by the University this year in any other year. We have a new Dean of Law School, and a new Vice-President. Our School of Business has moved into a new building and Speed Scientific has the use of a new building also. Yes, the Universi.ty has many blessing to count for 1958 and we hope that the University of Louisville will count many more for 1959. THE STUDENT LOUNGE is located on the lower level of the new University Center building. The lounge is furnished with a long sectional sofa and many chairs and tables. The entire decore is dark brown leather with bright plaid drapes. The lounge is connected to the University Student Senate room and is across the hall from the Snack Bar.
