| Description | GEM, a stern-wheel packet with wood hull (135 ft. x 21 ft. x 3 ft.), was built at Howard in 1898. Owned by Capt. Ben C. Rea, GEM operated on the Red River. She was running trade in the New Orleans and Bayou Sara area when she burned on February 14, 1914. |
