Description |
Port side of U.S. PATROL tied to the bank of the Ohio River at Howard Shipyard in Jeffersonville, Indiana. PATROL, a stern-wheel towboat and packet with a wood hull, was originally built in Sewickley and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1893 for the Mississippi River Commission. She was rebuilt at Howard Shipyard in 1895 (130.7 ft. x 28 ft. x 4.8 ft.), transferred to USE, St. Louis in 1906, and sold at auction moved to the Cumberland River in 1913. On September 8, 1918, she was lost at Harmon Shoals near Burnside. |
