Description
Laban Theodore Moore was born in Wayne County , Virginia . (now West Virginia) , near Louisa , Kentucky , in 1829 . He attended Marshall Academy in Virginia and graduated from Marietta College in Ohio . He attended the Transylvania Law College at Lexington , Kentucky , and was admitted to the bar in 1849 and established a practice in Louisa , Kentucky . He was elected to the U.S . Congress , serving 1859 to 1861 . During the Civil War he raised the Fourteenth Regiment , Kentucky Volunteer Infantry , of which he was elected colonel . In 1862 , Moore moved to Catlettsburg , Kentucky , and resumed the practice of law . He served in the Kentucky Senate in 1881 and was elected a member of the Kentucky constitutional convention in 1890 and 1891 . He died in Catlettsburg , Kentucky , in 1892 and was buried in the Ashland Cemetery , Ashland , Kentucky .
