Description
Autographed full-length character portrait of John Drew , Jr. , of the famous Drew/Barrymore theatrical family (the son of John Drew Sr . and Louisa Lane Drew , and uncle of Ethel , John , and Lionel Barrymore) , wearing a mustache and a tuxedo with white bow tie . Born in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , on November 13 , 1853 , Drew died July 9 , 1927 in San Francisco , California . He became a Frohman star (in the employ of producer-manager Charles Frohman) in 1892 , and appeared at Macauley's Theatre sixteen times between 1879 and 1923 , including in "Inconstant George " in March 1910 , the likely occasion for the inscription of this portrait . Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
