William Winter Jefferson , born ca. 1875 and died February 10 , 1946 , and Joseph Jefferson (1869-1919) performed together at Macauley's Theatre three times , in "Rip Van Winkle " and "The Rivals " (April 1900) ; "Playing the Game " (November 1906) ; and "The Rivals " (December 1907) . The Jefferson brothers are descendents of Joseph Jefferson III (1829-1905) , who performed at Macauley's Theatre thirty-four times beginning in 1880 .
