Full-length character portrait of actor Archie Boyd costumed in tuxedo with tails , top hat , and spats , holding cane in hands and standing on set next to a tree stump in front of a backdrop of a vine-strewn brick wall . He starred in four productions at Macauley's Theatre between 1890 and 1902 : "The Old Homestead " (in 1890 , 1891 , and 1892) and "Way Down East " (in 1902) .
