Photogravure of full-length character portrait of Louisa Drew (Mrs . John Drew) in costume for the role of Mrs . Malaprop in "The Rivals. " She is seated , with left arm on a table , wearing an ostrich-plumed hat and a regal gown . Born Louisa Lane in 1820 , she married John Drew Sr . in 1850 , a partnership that produced the famous Drew/Barrymore theatrical family . There is no record of her having performed in "The Rivals " at Macauley's Theatre ; this portrait is probably related to the 1896 all-star tour of that play . Annotation on print , lower center : Louisa Drew . May 16th . 18 . Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
