Young woman stands next to a sundial in a garden . She holds a hat that matches her dress and flowers in her arms and has one hand on the sundial . In "The Little Colonel's Knight Comes Riding " (1907) by Annie Fellows Johnston , Katie Marks photographs Lloyd Sherman , Leland Harcourt , and other characters posing in a series of pictures based on Robert Browning's "Garden Fancies. " Although not identified , this appears to be the type of scene they would have been creating that day . The fictional Katie Marks was based on photographer Kate Matthews . Title supplied by cataloger .
