Description
On the tiny island of Mano in that part of the North Sea known as the Wades , about four miles off the coast of Jutland , there was a severe epidemic in the spring of 1954 . Neighbors among the 44 households of the community helped each other as necessary during this emergency . Here a woman takes her turn nursing and cooking for an old fisherman confined to his bed with the flu .
