The cornerstone was laid on January 12 , 1956 . It formerly housed the University Library . Current uses : A&S Fine Arts Department ; Art Library ; Belknap Gallery ; Covi Gallery ; Gallery X . Named in honor : Evelyn Schneider . Former names : University Library . Former uses : University of Louisville library ; housed the Bingham Poetry Room and the Fine Arts Library .
